Chinese food company builds six-story slide to transport packages to first-floor sorting line
A food company built a six-story slide to transport packages to the first-floor sorting line in eastern China.
Video filmed in the city of Yiwu in Zhejiang Province on February 23 shows a worker pouring a box of packages onto a spiral slide to let them slide down from the fifth floor to the ground floor.
Ms Gong Lian, the executive director of Zhejiang Liuyuelian Food Co., Ltd., said that the main reason for building the slide was due to the company's "poverty."
Gong said: "From the fifth floor to the ground floor, we don't need electricity or water and we can reuse everything."
The company receives approximately 100,000 orders per day and those packages need to be centralised and transported to the ground-floor sorting line, posing a challenge for storage and elevators.
The slide helps reduce the time of transporting the packages from 10 minutes to only one minute.
