Members of the Red Cross provide support to the family members of the shipwreck that killed 62 people including 12 children in Crotone, Italy. Many of the victims had family ties in the city.

The migrants died after the wooden boat they were traveling on sank off the Italian coast. More than 100 people were on board according to survivors. Dozens are still missing.

According to reports, the boat sank after crashing against rocks, but bad weather conditions and overcrowding are believed to have also contributed to the shipwreck.

The migrant boat left Izmir, Turkey, three or four days ago. The vessel was spotted by one of Frontex's planes on February 25. According to the Italian police, severe weather forced patrol boats to return to port, and search units along the coastline were mobilised instead.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that more than 24 victims are Pakistani. The boat was also carrying migrants from Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan e Syria.
