Soldiers from Thailand and neighbouring Myanmar worked together to put out a forest fire at the border to prevent it from spreading.

The Pha Muang Task Force and Burmese troops battled to control the blazes along the Doi Chang Mub mountain range in Chiang Rai, Thailand on the night of February 26.

With the insufficient number of personnel, they had to request backup from another unit that came with fire trucks.

The wind was blowing thick smoke toward Myanmar before the soldiers managed to control the fire at around 9 pm local time.

Officials investigating the fires this morning blamed the illegal burning of used crops. The agricultural process is believed to be responsible for deteriorating air quality across the country.
