Footage shows snake charmers teaching wildlife volunteers and firefighters how to handle reptiles.

Popular herpetologist Nirut Chomngam and Sergeant Nattapol Sueangam, chief of a local snake-catching team, held the seminar at the Khao Soi Dao Wildlife Sanctuary in Chanthaburi province, Thailand.

More than 70 people participated in the training, including rescue staff and firefighters from Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Sa Kaeo, who are often called by locals to deal with pythons and cobras in their homes.

Experts demonstrated how to use various tools to wrangle the serpents, and also how to identify the different species during the classes on February 27.

The attendees were taught about the Wildlife Protection Act and the importance of snakes in the medical field, as well as basic first aid in case of snake bites.

As a culminating activity, the participants practiced catching several types of snakes in front of their instructors.
