A pensioner accidentally crashed his car into a phone shop after allegedly stepping on the wrong pedal.

Kasemsak Prangmas, 76, was returning to his house in Rayong province, Thailand when he 'mistook the accelerator for the brakes' on February 24.

His Toyota Vios was recorded on CCTV barrelling into the store and mowing down two people behind a glass counter.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Panthiti Sirimul, deputy inspector from the Klaeng Police Station, received a report about the accident at 12:15 PM and went to inspect the shop with a rescue team.

They found the driver's car with damage on its front and rear amid sharp shards of broken glass.

At the scene were two employees, Lakkhana Jaisaard, 45, and her child Thanachote Cheowbanmai, 22, who suffered cuts on their bodies. Lakkhana had more severe injuries as she had been hit by the car.

They were given first aid before being taken to the Klaeng Hospital for further treatment.

The driver, Kasemsak, emerged unhurt from the vehicle.

Lakkhana's mother, who also mans the store, said she was not injured as she had been drying her laundry at the time of the accident.

The crash caused an estimated 100,000 baht (around 2,878 USD) in damages.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Panthiti said the car will be towed from the shop while officers detained Kasemsak for questioning.
