A kind resident saved a snake tangled inside a chicken coop net.

Mantana Wongwijarn and her friend were walking in the neighbourhood when they noticed something wriggling under the wooden birdhouse in Kanchanaburi province, Thailand on February 27.

They later found a wild serpent struggling to free itself from the protective cover and helped release it.

Footage shows Mantana's friend using a pair of scissors to cut parts of the net from the snake's body.

He covered one hand with an old blue shirt to keep the snake from biting it.

Mantana said: ‘We found the snake stuck in the net. We were both afraid of snakes but we knew we must help it.'

After about 20 minutes, the snake was freed from the net and released into a vacant lot away from the homes.

Mantana added: ‘I think it was trying to find food in the neighbourhood. I hope it lives a long life.'
