A baby and a pensioner were injured when they were attacked by a rampaging escaped bull in Vietnam.

The 70kg farm animal went berserk on a road in the Nhon Tay Commune of Ho Chi Minh City after running away from its owner on February 28.

It wandered onto the road before mowing down a 78-year-old woman crossing the street and trampling her. Shocked bystanders rushed to the unconscious woman and called for help.

After the attack, the bull then barged into a residence, storming through the property and knocking a sleeping seven-month-old baby from his hammock.

Both victims were rushed to the hospital, with the elderly lady now recovering from her suffering serious injuries, local media reported.

Locals said a family in the Cu Chi District had recently bought the bull. Its owners are negotiating with the victims' families for compensation.

The case is reportedly being handled by local authorities.
