An undertaker turned an old coffin into a DIY home barbecue grill.

Footage shows smoke billowing from the glossy wooden casket outside the family home in North Cotabato, the Philippines on February 27.

When its cover was lifted, marinated pork and tuna slices emerged on the unusual barbecue set-up.

Funeral shop owner Vincent Levi Doletin said: ‘I have a lot of coffin stocks, but this particular casket I turned into a grill was given to me by my friend.'

Vincent added that it took him and his cousin two days to repurpose and recycle the funeral accessory. He said the coffin had never housed a corpse.

He said: ‘It's just so my family and I can have something to use if we go to the beach or pool. It's just at my house.'
