A brave official was lowered down into a well near Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, to rescue two ferocious civets.

Nawaz Shaikh of the Wildlife Rescue Society was lowered down into the well with the help of a safety harness.

As he attempted to pull them out, the animals turned very aggressive but Shaikh managed to capture them using a retractable snare pole.

“The animals were stressed and aggressive. They are also so agile they could have leapt at Nawaz and torn him with their sharp teeth and claws. But he held his nerve and rescued them without getting hurt," said Akash Jadhav of the Wildlife Rescue Society.

The animals were later released back into the wild.
