Dramatic CCTV footage captured the moment a huge fountain of water burst from below a road in India, injuring passing scooter rider.

The extraordinary incident happened on the main road at Vidarbha housing society area in Yavatmal, Maharashtra state, on Saturday 4 March.

According to local reports, the sudden crack in the road was caused by a burst pipeline below, in which there was very high water pressure.

The female scooter rider, who was caught by the sudden gusher of water, was rescued by locals.

The incident was caught on a camera belonging to a general store at the location.
