An emotional teenager with cancer broke down in teas as her head was shaved - as kind hairdressers battled to cheer her up.

Maria Remy Josh Libratar, 14, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in Quezon City, the Philippines last year.

When the youngster started doing chemotherapy, her doctors suggested that they cut her hair before it fell off.

On the day of her appointment at the salon, the sick girl was heartbroken but the supportive hairdressers helped her through it.

Touching footage shows the scared Maria Remy sitting on the stylist's chair as a blue cloth was draped around her body on December 21, 2022.

The stylist Tootsie tried to lighten up the emotionally charged moment for the family and was heard saying in the video: ‘How old are you baby girl?'

But the youngster could not answer and instead burst out crying.

Tootsie then said to her: ‘This is for you. Please don't cry, we're all here for you.'

Her tearful mum sprung up from her seat and held her daughter, who was crying as Tootsie cut her hair. A second hairstylist approached them to try and lighten up the mood. She said: ‘Don't worry, it's just hair. They grow back.'

Maria Remy cried throughout the session, alternately covering her eyes as she wept and staring at the mirror when she calmed down.

Tootsie said as he was sporting a bald look himself: ‘It's done now. Look, it's not too bad, we even have the same style.'

The young girl's mum Maria Celica said: ‘She's on her fourth chemotherapy session. She needs rest because she is still weak.

‘She was so emotional, sad, and crying while cutting her long hair. It started to fall off because of the medicines.

‘It breaks me, but I must be strong for my daughter. We will do radiation therapy after her fifth chemo, which we are preparing for now.'
