Furious buffalo attacks handler in front of audience at animal show
This is the shocking moment a raging buffalo gored her handler at a show in Thailand.
The farm animal named Bua Khao, meaning 'White Lotus', was being lead into the arena by owner Pichet Songrat, 41, after winning a prize for the most well-groomed beast when suddenly she went berserk.
Dramatic footage shows the furious buffalo chasing after Pichet during the awards ceremony, to the horror of spectators. The creature tossed the hapless man like a ragdoll in the ring with her horns.
Pichet managed to stand back up and escape while the buffalo ran to the other end of the arena, causing panicked spectators to flee.
Onlookers captured the dramatic scenes at the Thai Buffalo Uthai Thani 2023 show in Uthai Thani province on March 4.
Pichet, who suffered a wound on his chest but has now recovered, said: 'There were no warning signs from Bua Khao. Suddenly she just became angry.
'I think she was stressed because of all the people and noise. This was her first competition. She is more relaxed now that she's at home.'
The apparently agitated buffalo watched for a moment while the emcee granted Pichet the certificate. It tried to pull away but as Pichet refused to let go of the leash, the creature went on a crazed rampage.
Security arrived and waited for the beast to calm down, keeping her caged before leading her onto a pickup truck to be taken back home.
Pichet was then sent to the hospital for minor injuries on his left leg and abdomen.
Farmer Samphao Thai Kham, 70, Bua Khao's owner, said that Bua Khao won fourth prize on her debut.
He added: 'I'm not sure she'll win anything again if she behaves like that. She was spooked by the sounds blaring from the speakers, camera flashes, and the audience's applause.'
