Wild rat snake tangles in net when it tried to slither on pile of rice sacks
A wild rat snake became tangled in a net when it tried to slither into a pile of rice sacks.
The serpent was found struggling to wriggle out of the protective net when the house owner checked on their kitchen in Ratchaburi province, Thailand on February 3.
Resident Bank Natthanai called the animal rescuers who cut the net off the creature's body using a pair of scissors before it was taken out of the house.
Footage shows the rat snake stuck on the net. Rescuers used a pole to hold it while they safely cut away the net.
Bank said: ‘I was hoping to keep the rats away from my rice. But instead, I caught a rat snake. I called for help and released it back to its home.'
The snake was injured and later released into the wild by rescuers.
All pythons, king cobra, and some rat snake species are protected by Thai laws.
