Spectacular cloud disc swirls round Mount Fuji in timelapse footage
A spectacular cloud disc swirled around Mount Fuji as seen in incredible time-lapse footage.
Video shows the cloud formation rotating around the peak of the active volcano - Japan's highest peak 100 kilometres southwest of Tokyo - on February 23.
The umbrella-like formation is known as a lenticular cloud. They are formed when air moves across obstacles such as hills and mountains. When there is enough moisture, water vapour in the rising air current condenses, creating the lens-shaped phenomenon.
