Residents in the mountains of California are still digging their way out after a powerful winter storm buried them under several feet of snow last week.

Clips captured on a Ring home security camera show the difference in snow accumulation over a week in Crestline, in the San Bernardino Mountains, east of Los Angeles.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office said they were still conducting rescues, transporting people from the mountains to shelters, and delivering food and emergency rations.

The California Department of Transportation said crews had to use front-loaders and other heavy equipment to clear snow that was too deep for regular plows.

Gov. Gavin Newsom last week declared a state of emergency across 13 counties, including San Bernardino County, as a result of the winter storms.

The Governor’s Office of Emergency Services coordinated with Caltrans and San Bernardino County officials to bring in additional snow plows, crews, and California National Guard personnel.
