Husband rushes to secure TV as powerful earthquake shakes home in the Philippines
A husband showed where his priorities lie - when he rushed to save the family's prized TV during an earthquake.
Nato Segador was relaxing on the patio with his wife Glory when they felt the tremors in their home in Davao de Oro province, the Philippines, on Tuesday, March 7.
The wife quickly pointed to their 42'' smart TV before Nato rushed over to stop it from toppling over. The earthquake then passed without any significant damage or any injuries to people.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck at 2:02 pm at a depth of 10 kilometres. It was centred some eight kilometres southeast of New Bataan municipality in Davao de Oro province.
The agency said damage and aftershocks were expected.
The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
