A pet dog cried thinking his dead owner's cardboard cutout was ignoring him.

The fluffy Shih Tzu named Spencer was excited when he saw the life-like image of late 'pet mum' Rhoda Lucas in their living room in Caloocan City, the Philippines.

But after a while of asking the standee to carry him, the pooch eventually became frustrated as the standee remained immobile.

Footage from August 4 shows Spencer crying and softly growling while appearing to plead for Rhoda's cutout to take him.

Rhoda's daughter Shara said: ‘We gathered at home for my mum's first death anniversary. But our dog thought the cardboard cutout was real.

‘We were heartbroken when he became mad and cried because he thought our mum was ignoring him. He misses her so much.'
