Congressional representatives Sarah Jacobs, Scott Petters and Juan Vargas visited Mesa Community College to commemorate $3.4 million in federal funding to help marginalized students. About a third of the funds is being used for LGBTQ students at the college.

During the press conference Rep Jacobs said "Let me be clear. If it's 'woke' to make sure that young people in our community have a space where they can be themselves and for me to advocate for people who often are overlooked and marginalized, I guess I'm woke."
