Trees bent double and power lines thick with ice as arctic blast dumps snow on Sheffield, England
Overnight snow in Yorkshire, England, left trees leaning over power lines and lamp posts, which were thick with ice.
Cars were buried under a foot of snow, and Northern cities resembled scenes from the Alps due to the surprise winter weather in March.
Will Oliphant, a resident of Sheffield, was awakened in the middle of the night by snow falling off his roof. He recounted: "There was a rumble and a crash, and it sounded like something had broken outside. When I went out, I couldn't believe how deep the snow was. It just hasn't stopped all night. I've lived here for five years, and I've never seen anything like this. I don't know how people will be able to get to work. The cars I did see were driving very slowly."
