Firefighters and police officers rescued a wild boar from drowning in a pond at a university in central China.

Video filmed in the city of Wuhan in Hubei Province on March 8 shows a wild boar swimming in a pond but was unable to climb up the steep embankment to get out.

Firefighters used ropes and a capture device to secure the wild boar and then hauled it up to safety.

According to a student named Pan, security guards tried to catch the wild boar with a net but they couldn't lift it out of the water. So they contacted the firefighters for help.

The firefighters tied the wild boar's nose, neck, and hind legs with ropes fearing that it would run around and hurt people.

The entire rescue operation took around 20 minutes with the wild boar finally being brought to safety.

After the rescue, the animal was handed over to park workers who then transported it to the nearby Qinglong Mountain Forest Park for release back into the wild.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
