Friends throw USA themed party to celebrate friend getting citizenship
A group of friends dressed up as Mount Rushmore, the Statue of Liberty and Abraham Lincoln to help celebrate their pal’s US citizenship.
When Sharon Lin found out her sister’s college best friend Sharon Lin had received confirmation of her citizenship in February, they decided to throw a celebration for her.
Hilarious footage shows the group dressed famous American figures including Uncle Sam, a bald eagle and a pair of cowboys while surrounded by Star Spangled banners.
To continue their theme, the friends played the game ‘Jeopardy’, sang US-themed karaoke and ate a red velvet cake adorned with the words ‘Sharon in the U.S.Slay’.
Mia, from California, USA, said: “My sister, Sharon, and I planned this party as a joke at first. We didn't think it was going to happen, but after a $15 pack of USA decorations and face paint arrived, we were all really excited.
“I didn't think that everyone would get so into character. We had a variety of costumes from a bald eagle to Rosie the Riveter to Abraham Lincoln.
“For food we had ‘American’ themed food including hamburgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, fries, and other side dishes.
“We bought red, white, and berry Smirnoff ices to match the theme and our friend made red, white, and blue shots.
“I baked a red velvet cake decorated like an American flag that said ‘Sharon in the U.S.Slay’.
“We played American Jeopardy which included categories like American history, pop culture, state geography, sports, colleges and American businesses.
“We ended the night with board games and American themed karaoke.”
