Hedy Soleman, 53 years old, is a dentist who has a hobby of orchids. He admits that this hobby was inspired by his mother, who also really likes collecting various types of flowers.

But unlike Hedy, she focused on collecting one type of plant, namely orchids. Currently there are various types of orchids in his home area in Jondul Rawang, South Padang District, Padang City, West Sumatra.

Even the land area of ​​his house which reaches about 5 hectares, has become an orchid breeding area. There are a number of trees intended to be breeding grounds for orchids.

His hobby of collecting orchids has been started since 2003. This means that it took Hedy 20 years to hunt for orchids in all provinces in Indonesia.

He mentioned that the orchids in the area were not only orchids found in Indonesian nature, but also orchids originating from a number of countries.

"As for Indonesian orchids, from those recorded, all of them are in my place, even those that are endemic, namely from the island of Borneo, are also here," said Hedy.

Hedy's activities in breeding this orchid have received permission from the West Sumatra Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA). In the future, he plans to start selling orchids when the Ministry of Environment and Forestry grants permission to sell the plants.
