A powerful atmospheric river storm brought heavy rains to California, US, melting some of the state’s record snowpack and causing flooding on March 10, leaving at least two people dead and nearly 10,000 residents under evacuation orders.

Major flooding occurred on the Kern River in the southern Sierra Nevada, flooding the riverbanks of nearby communities, including parts of Kernville.
