Passengers on an Indonesian flight get a bird's eye view of Mt Merapi eruption
Passengers on a Lion Air flight from Bali to Yogyakarta got a sky-high view of the eruption of the Mt Merapi volcano on Saturday 11 March.
Indonesia's Mount Merapi, located in the Yogyakarta special administrative region, erupted on Saturday 11 March at around noon according to the country's disaster management agency.
The high-altitude sight was captured on camera at around 13:35 local time.
The eruption sent clouds of ash up to 7km (4.3 miles) into the air, and caused a 1.5km (0.9 mile) lava flow.
The 2,963-metre (9,721 feet) Mt Merapi is one of Indonesia's most active volcanoes and was already on the country's second-highest alert level before the recent eruption.
The nearby community has been warned to stay away from the danger zone, which is 3-7km from the crater.
