The pilot of an Aer Lingus flight struggled to land at Birmingham's BHX airport on Monday (13 March) morning as Storm Larisa unleashed hell.

Gale-force crosswinds of 50mph rocked the Belfast to Birmingham bound aircraft as torrential rain vastly reduced visibility.

The light propeller plane was shifted from side to side as it made the approach to the runway before safely touching down, to the relief of passengers and crew.

Despite landing the aircraft skidded along the runway as the force of the winds continued batter the flight.
