Customs officials caught three passengers carrying gold in their shoes and undergarments at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, India, on March 10.

The passengers were travelling from Ethiopia's Addis Ababa.

The footage shows one of the officials discovering the gold while removing a shoe insole.

The gold weighed over 3 kgs and was worth Rs 1.4 crores (USD 170,936.36).

The Mumbai customs departments released a statement reading: "On 10th March, Mumbai Airport Customs seized over 3 Kg gold valued at Rs 1.40 Crore from three foreign nationals who had arrived from Addis Ababa to Mumbai. Gold was found to be concealed in their undergarments and insole of the footwear."

Three passengers travelling from Ethiopia's Addis Ababa were caught by Mumbai customs officials for carrying gold in their shoes and undergarments, in western India's Maharashtra.

The incident is reported to have happened at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai on March 10.

Visuals showed one of the officials taking out the insole from the shoes to take out the gold from inside it. According to a report, gold worth Rs 1.4 crores (USD 170,936.36) and weighing more than 3 kgs ( 6.614 lbs) was found from the three foreign nationals. The gold was concealed inside their shoes and undergarments.
