Gold weighing over 3 kgs found hidden in shoes and undergarments by Mumbai customs officials

Customs officials caught three passengers carrying gold in their shoes and undergarments at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, India, on March 10.

The passengers were travelling from Ethiopia's Addis Ababa.

The footage shows one of the officials discovering the gold while removing a shoe insole.

The gold weighed over 3 kgs and was worth Rs 1.4 crores (USD 170,936.36).

The Mumbai customs departments released a statement reading: "On 10th March, Mumbai Airport Customs seized over 3 Kg gold valued at Rs 1.40 Crore from three foreign nationals who had arrived from Addis Ababa to Mumbai. Gold was found to be concealed in their undergarments and insole of the footwear."
