Loading Lotus on Amazon Ferry

Buy video

Incredible footage shows a 1967 Lotus Elan being loaded onto a ferry in Macapa, Brazil. A make-shift seesaw is used to get the tiny car over a loading ramp, before it is driven on to a ferry for a two day voyage down the Amazon.

This journey is just one leg of The Great Amazon Adventure which ends at the end of October 2015 when the Lotus and another five cars hope to complete a drive from the Atlantic to the Pacific along the Trans Amazonica Highway.

The Bespoke Rallies event has already seen the cars tackle weeks of rainforest and un-made roads, through Suriname, French Guiana and Brazil. The cars are now heading up into the high Andes in Peru.
