A hot-headed driver has turned herself in to the authorities after slapping an airport car park attendant in Thailand.

Online celebrity Nong Tharathip, 25, was irritable after failing to find the fourth-floor car parking exit at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok on March 13.

She lowered her car windows to ask the attendant Rawal for directions, but became angry when she was told to 'go straight ahead and read the signs'.

CCTV footage shows a furious Tharathip marching out of the white rental car to attack Rawal, who also recorded the alleged assault on her phone.

After Tharathip left, the frightened employee reported the incident to airport authorities and on-duty police officers.

She said she had responded to Tharathip's questions calmly and politely but was shocked when the woman began hurling insults and verbal abuse at her.

Tharathip later turned herself in to police at 11:30 PM after being told by the car rental owner to surrender.

She was charged with assault and apologised to Rawal before paying a 20,000 baht (580 USD) fine and compensation to the victim for slapping her.

Tharathip also apologised to the public saying she 'felt bad' after hearing Rawal's response. She added that she had been on edge after getting lost several times, and became angrier when she saw Rawal recording on her phone.

Meanwhile, the driver's friends claimed that Tharathip had a mental illness and would sometimes lash out at her companions when they irritate her.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Kaweerattana Bangkhomtham of the Suvarnabhumi International Airport Police Station said: 'Aside from the compensation, Tharathip was fined 2,000 baht for the assault charge. Both parties are negotiating a settlement.'
