During this couple's holiday from Australia to the Philippines they came across a stray dog that took a liking to them.

Jason Verrusio and his partner would throw the pooch food for her to eat every day during their trip to Boracay.

"On the first day we got there we came across a very scared little female dog," Jason said.

"She would come near us and we’d have to throw her food for her to eat, as the trip went on we went looking for her every day and brought her food.

"A few days in she would eat from our hands and then a few more days we could touch her and then nearing the end of the trip she would fall asleep in our arms."

The couple were then shocked to find out that dog catchers patrol the beach.

"Then we found out really bad news, we were told there are dog catchers that roam the beaches every week and take dogs, lock them up for a whole week without food or water, then if they aren’t dead yet then try to give them the needle and put them down."

Jason and his partner then decided to act by taking the dog named Suey to a local non-profit organisation called AARRC.

"Once we returned from our day trip to save Suey the locals told us 30 minutes after we left the island dog catchers came and caught many dogs from the beach, we saved young Suey from dying that day and we have now adopted her and she’s going through a 10-month process to get her home to us in Australia."
