Steel coil rolls off truck and crushes parked car in Vietnam
This is the moment a steel coil fell from a moving truck and crushed a parked car in Vietnam.
The roll of heavy steel was on the back of a tractor-trailer driving through the Thach That district of Hanoi on March 13.
However, because the coil was not properly secured, it slid off the cargo bed and tumbled towards the sidewalk, thundering across the street before flattening a sedan like a tin can.
The impact as the coil bounced also damaged the road.
No injuries or casualties were reported as the car was empty at the time.
Thach That District police said they are investigating the case.
The incident is the latest road accident involving steel coils, which are used in manufacturing.
In January, a steel coil broke from its chains and rolled forward, crushing the cabin of a truck in Dong Nai province.
A similar incident also happened in Ho Chi Minh City last November, when yet another steel coil was sent flying onto a highway and caused traffic chaos.
Vietnam currently has no mandatory safety standards regarding the transport of steel coils, with drivers arbitrarily securing them through their own methods.
