Striking teachers pack out Trafalgar Square as an estimated 40,000 people joined London march
Striking teachers, civil servants, junior doctors and other workers joined a rally in Trafalgar Square on Spring Budget Day as they sought better pay and working conditions in a cost-of-living crisis (March 15).
The estimated 40,000 marchers, mostly members of the National Education Union (NEU), Public Commercial Services (PCS) and the British Medical Association (BMA), unfurled a giant banner in the middle of the square as they listened to MP Zarah Sultana, and Trade Union leaders speak.
Around 700,000 took part in industrial action today.
