Police in Pekanbaru, Indonesia, publicly destroyed 87 kg of methamphetamine and more than 55,000 ecstasy pills ceased from suspected dealers.

The operation was carried out from February 21 and the ceased drugs were destroyed on March 16.

Riau Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Kasihan Rahmadi said there were 435 suspects arrested.

The drugs were burnt before being dissolved in water mixed with floor-cleaning liquid.

The Riau Police managed to secure 87 kg of methamphetamine-type narcotics and 55,542 ecstasy pills during the 2023 Antik Lancang Kuning Operation.
Where the operation was carried out from 21 February 2023 to 4 March 2023.

Riau Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Kasihan Rahmadi said there were 435 suspects arrested. Compared to last year, it has increased by more than 100 percent.

Meanwhile, the perpetrators were subject to Article 114 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph 2 and Article 132 paragraph 1 of the Constitution No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics with the threat of death penalty and a minimum of 20 years in prison.

Meanwhile, the illegal items that were successfully secured were immediately destroyed at the Riau Police Headquarters by burning them and dissolving them in water mixed with floor cleaning liquid.
