The roof of a huge mall in Minnesota, USA, collapsed in on itself after heavy snowfall battered the state.

Footage shows a pile of snow in the middle of an arcade in the Miller Hill Mall, in Duluth, on Tuesday (March 14).

Scott Skar, manager of a local Barnes and Noble store, captured the moment as he was starting his shift around 9 am.

Skar said: "The roof over the corridor just outside Barnes & Noble in the Miller Hill Mall collapsed right as we were opening. "

"It’s my understanding that no one was hurt, but the noise was incredible, as was the smell of gas. "

"We evacuated quickly, and won’t be open today for certain. "

"It was shocking to see an open sky & a snow pile just outside the door!"

The mall was immediately closed to the public and the local fire department cordoned off the site and looked for trapped occupants.

Eventually, all people who were inside the mall at the time were accounted for.

No injuries were reported and the mall remains closed due to a gas leak caused by the damage.
