Artist carves out giant leaves to make portraits of celebrities
An artist carves out giant leaves to make portraits of celebrities.
Joneil Calagos Severino, 24, harvests the enormous 4ft-long taro fronds from their back garden in Samar province, the Philippines.
Using a sharp scalpel, Joneil carefully cut up shapes and holes in the plant to form his desired image.
Footage shows the young artist slicing up the leaf until NBA player Stephen Curry's face was formed.
He also did the same process to sculpt the faces of singer Bella Poarch and internet personality Khaby Lame on the massive leaves.
Joneil said: ‘Taro grows all around our village, so we thought of using them for our art.
‘We also want to teach art to our younger friends. Art materials are expensive but we often take for granted the things we already have.'
