Hundreds of protesters were forced to flee as police used tear gas and stun grenades to disperse a demonstration in Thessaloniki in response to the Tempi train crash.

Footage from March 16 shows stun grenades exploding in the city streets as riot police attempted to disperse the protesters.

Stones were hurled at the police by small groups of the 30,000 protesters that took to the streets to voice their anger at the government over the train disaster that killed 57 in February.

Clashes broke out in Thessaloniki second largest city in Greece on Thursday, during a general strike that was called in response to a rail disaster last month.

Protesters hurled stones and objects with Greek police responding by firing tear gas and stun grenades as more than 30,000 people took to the streets to slam the government and voice outrage at last month's train disaster that killed 57 people.
