This is the terrifying moment a gunman disguised as a postman held up a gold shop before fleeing empty-handed.

The suspect pretended to make a delivery while he was trying to rob the Yaowarat M Gold shop in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand at around 1 PM on March 16.

A clerk named Aui went to speak with him and told him he had the wrong address. However, the suspect whipped out his gun, barged into the store and pointed it at the frightened ladies who shrank in a corner in terror.

The gunman demanded they give him 10 Baht gold in a tote bag he placed on the counter, and threatened staff that he would shoot if they activated the alarm.

The employees then ran into a backroom to hide, leaving the man baffled and alone in the store. With no one to retrieve the gold for him, he fled outside empty-handed before any other customers could come in.

Shopkeeper Natcha Kaewpinit, 30, said: 'When the suspect attacked, there were four shopkeepers in the store, including Aui.

'Aui went outside to talk with the man before informing him that the letter was not addressed to our store, but he grabbed her and pushed his way inside and threatened us with his gun. She is still in shock from the attempted robbery.'

Police Lieutenant Colonel Siwawut Boonnarong of the Sam Phran Police Station said: 'We will check surveillance cameras near the scene and along the man's suspected escape route.'

He added that they will enlist help from the Police Forensic Centre 7 in the search.
