When Stephen Nymberg moved to Leland, a town in North Carolina, two years ago, he quickly bonded with Fred, a retired 75-year-old Vietnam war veteran who spends his mornings on the front porch of a house that he doesn't own drinking coffee. Despite not owning the property, Fred's best friend allows him to stay there and take care of it.

"He is up early, ready to start the day. Fred is very excited, very extroverted, and very stoked about life," Nymberg explained.

"He's an excited guy who has been through a lot".

Nymberg and Fred hang out a few times a week, dancing and having fun. Fred's only mode of transport is a pedal bike with a license plate that reads: "God is an awesome god."

One day, Nymberg decided to surprise Fred with his favorite drink, which he had been searching for for over a decade: Mad Dog, a flavored fortified wine. After finding it at a gas station four hours away, he presented it to Fred in this heartwarming video.

In his original caption posted with the video online, Nymberg wrote: "My neighbor Fred always tells me how he grew up on Mad Dog, but hasn’t found any in over 10 years. Finally found some 4 hours away and Fred is PUMPED!!! 🤣 Love this guy."

Fred's reaction of joy and disbelief was captured on camera as he took a long sip from the bottle.

"Check out what I found for you," says Nymberg in the clip.

"Oh my god!" Fred exclaims in happiness. He can't believe it.

In an exclusive interview with Newsflare, Nymberg praised Fred's positive and energetic personality, saying that they are a great match for each other.

"We both feed off each other's positive and ecstatic energy. What a great guy Fred is!"
