In a daring rescue operation, a six-foot-long spectacled cobra was rescued from a 40-foot abandoned well in Udala, located under the Udala forest range of Mayurbhanj district in Odisha.

The snake had been stuck inside the well for the past three to four days, a passerby who spotted it alerted the Udala forest department immediately

The department immediately dispatched Krishna Gochhait, a permanent animal rescuer, to the site of the incident. Upon arriving, Gochhait assessed the situation and attempted to rescue the cobra using a long rope, brick, and stick. After a nerve-wracking two-hour operation, he was finally able to successfully rescue the snake.

Following the rescue, the cobra was given a medical check-up and found to be in good health. It was then released back into its natural habitat, to the relief of both the forest department and local residents
