Farmers used an excavator to rescue a cow stuck in a ditch.

The brown bovine was feeding on the grass when she slipped down the steep slope in Sa Kaeo province, Thailand on March 13.

Her owner tried to pull her up but the creature was too heavy. Rescuers arrived later and helped free it using heavy equipment.

Footage shows two farmers tying a rope around the animal's body before it was lifted up by the machinery.

Farmer Lamphun Tapianthong said: ‘My cow had been down there for eight hours. We couldn't take it out.'

The cow was unhurt and returned to its owner afterwards.
