Water propels into air as Chinese workers blow up frozen river to prevent build up of ice
Workers blew up a frozen river to prevent flooding in northern China.
Video filmed in Huachuan County in Heilongjiang Province on March 17 shows water propelling dozens of metres high in the air as workers blew up a frozen river to prevent a build-up of ice.
According to reports, a total of 1,400 explosive holes were dug during the anti-icing blasting operation, covering a length of 4.5 kilometres and an area of 315,000 square metres.
The operation has effectively guaranteed the smooth passage of ice on the Songhua River in the Huachuan section.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
