The Economic Freedom fighters marched to the South African Parliament in Cape Town as part of their National Shutdown today. Authorities kept a watchful eye as around 1500 protesters marched through a somewhat quiet Cape Town CBD.

The march was one of many held nationally as the EFF protested against electricity blackouts and alleged corruption in the Ramaphosa led ANC government. Ramaphosa was recently caught up in a scandal around foreign currency that was hidden in a couch at his Phala Phala farm, which the EFF believes he is to step aside for.

Protesters waved placards and chanted liberation songs, the march was supported by the Pan African Congress and the South African Federation of Trade Unions.
