An 11-year-old boy performed a Heimlich manoeuvre to save his younger brother from choking on candy in southern China.

CCTV footage filmed in the city of Shanwei in Guangdong Province on March 13 shows a 6-year-old boy suddenly choking on candy and being unable to speak.

The boy's grandmother walked to check on the boy but didn't realise the severity of the situation. Since she thought her grandson was alright, she walked away.

The 11-year-old older brother spotted something was wrong and walked to the boy to ask if he could breathe. After that, the older brother held the boy by his back and performed a Heimlich manoeuvre.

Finally, the boy started crying and was able to breathe again.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
