Hero local climbs down steep reservoir bank to save stray dog stuck in water
A hero local used his sweater as a rope to climb down a steep reservoir bank to save stray dogs stuck in the water.
Sakarin Samrasee was on his way home when he noticed the trapped pooches taking refuge in a clump of weeds in Chonburi province, Thailand on March 20.
Footage shows the good Samaritan holding onto a branch while using a stick to reach the creatures. As the strays were too far down, he removed his jacket and tied it to a tree to serve as a makeshift lifeline.
He held the jacket like a rope and descended further down before pulling the first dog, a brown one called Ton Tang, and a second black and white pooch.
Sakarin said: ‘We heard the dogs barking loudly so we were curious. We stopped by and saw the two dogs stuck on the reeds.'
Sakarin believes the other strays had chased the pooches to the edge before they fell. They then gathered around as he saved the two.
He said: ‘Maybe they felt bad leaving the two dogs trapped there. They barked and called for attention.'
The stray dogs were unhurt and they returned to the village after being saved.
