Meet Mandeep Kuar, a woman from Kailpur, Punjab, who has embraced her new look after growing a beard and a moustache despite her husband leaving her.

Kuar had tied the knot in 2012 but a few years into the marriage she was dumped by her husband. This sent her into depression.

"In 2012, I got married. After which, when facial hair started growing on my chin then my husband left me. They say we can't live together, because of your beard," she told a journalist whilst speaking Punjabi.

"Whenever I go to the market people are surprised to see me because I had a beard on my face but I dressed like a girl."

Since the breakup, she has been able to embrace her looks with the help of her family. Kaur has turned to farming thanks to her brothers.

"When my brother brought the Bullet (a bike), I had only one thing on my mind, that now all that was left was to ride a bullet, so my brother taught me how to ride a bike.

"One day when everyone returned home, I was riding the bullet on the ground, after which everyone was very happy to see me riding the bullet.

"It was a memorable moment for me. Now wherever I go, I go on the bullet.

"In my family, my all family members and my mother consider me a boy.

"My brother also considers me as his brother not his sister and we always go everywhere together and also do work together. He always consults me for everything.

"Today, I feel very happy that I am living in this world like a boy."
