A wonky minibus looked like it was ready for the scrap yard - but somehow continued carrying passengers in the Philippines.

The 20-seater vehicle was lopsided and could barely move forward when confused motorists spotted it along a road in Calapan City on December 26.

Footage shows the deformed jeepney with a driver and a passenger seated in front. It amusingly looked flattened, leaving only enough room for its passenger's height up to the roof.

Onlooker Marc Gumban said: ‘I am wondering what happened to that car. I hope it's fine that they drive it on the road like that.'

Jeepneys are mini-bus-like vehicles that serve as one of the most popular modes of public transport in the Philippines. They originated from repurposed old jeeps left by the US army at the end of World War II that could carry as many as 25 people at a time.
