More than 15,000 e-sports fans attended a two-day gaming event in northeastern Thailand over the weekend.

Thousands of gamers flocked to The Mall Korat in Nakhon Ratchasima province to spectate or participate in the ROV Esan Esport Open 2023 Champion tournament held on March 18 and 19.

A total of 256 teams competed in the Realm of Valor (ROV) tourney, with winners taking home 110,000 baht as rewards. E-sports fans were also treated to game commentary from renowned Thai e-sports caster Vipolpat 'Winzy' Moonsapa, who covered the finals.

Team BIGSIZE secured the top spot and earned 50,000 baht (1,454 USD), plaques, and certificates.

The runner-up, KOG Junior, received 25,000 baht (727 USD), while third and fourth-placers Peanut Butter and Miko Smart took home 15,000 and 10,000 baht (436 USD and 290 USD) respectively.

Anuchit Singh, from Team Peanut Butter, was awarded the MVP title and received 5,000 baht (145 USD).

Aside from the championship, there were also cosplaying activities, as well as card and board game contests.

The provincial e-sports association said the event was held to promote Nakhon Ratchasima as an e-sports hub in Thailand, and to establish e-sports as a viable career path.
