A resident cut through a steel pillar using an electric grinder to save kittens trapped inside.

The house owner Veerachat had been hearing soft cat cries around his property but could not find it until two days later in Tak province, Thailand on February 26.

After confirming the location of the sound, he put on his work suit and fired the power tool to make a hole in the wall.

Footage shows Veerachat slicing up the structure. He then used a hammer to pry through the object and scoop out the creature.

He said: ‘My family was cheering me as I destroyed the pillar for the cat. They helped me rescue it.'

The kitten was crying loudly, seemingly terrified by the grinder's noise.

A few moments later, a black kitten was freed but found out its sibling was stuck inside.

Two cats were saved from the pillar and were adopted by Veerachat and his family.
