A boy was rescued after a girl threw him into a well in southwestern China.

CCTV footage filmed in the county of Songming County in Yunnan Province on March 8 shows a 4-year-old boy named Yang and a 7-year-old girl named Wang playing near a water well.

However, Wang suddenly carried Yang up and threw him into the more than 4.5-metre-deep well.

According to reports, nearby villagers immediately launched a rescue operation and managed to save the boy in time after hearing Yang's cries for help.

After being sent to the hospital for a checkup, Yang was found to have no external injuries but was experiencing mild fever and coughing.

Despite the severity of the incident, there was reportedly no prior conflict between the families of the two children.

Fortunately, Yang has since made a full recovery and the two families have reached a peaceful resolution through mediation by the local village committee.
