A powerful sandstorm wreaked havoc in northern China's Inner Mongolia, causing severe damage and disruption to locals' daily lives.

Video filmed on March 21 shows a sand storm shrouding Erenhot city, turning the sky orange.

Reports from local authorities reveal that an orange alert had been issued earlier in the day, warning residents of the impending danger.

With wind speeds reaching a staggering class 11, ranging from 63.8mph
to 72.9mph, the situation quickly spiralled out of control. While the visibility was only a few dozen metres.
