This is the terrifying moment an out-of-control truck smashed into the back of a car leaving two injured.

The speeding truck crashed into the rear of a family's car while they were buying food from an eatery in Davao City, Davao del Sur province in the Philippines on March 20 evening.

CCTV footage shows how the large vehicle barrelled into the family's SUV and dragged it along the pavement before stopping. Another angle of the accident shows tables, chairs, and stools flying away from the force of the impact.

Two people, including a seven-year-old boy, were injured.

Police said the driver had allegedly fallen asleep at the wheel. The concerned parties have entered into an amicable settlement.

The truck driver, who was not named by local media, has vowed to shoulder the medical expenses, and shop and car repairs.
